BLOGGING THRU THE BIBLE: Book of Job A Summary

Blogging thru Bible New

Congratulations girls, it was such a journey with the Book of Job study. There were ups and downs and mostly the suffering, made me realise how blessed we are because of Christ. HIS GRACE for victory, peace, provision and everything we need.

Most important, despite his sufferings, we see Job expressing exemplary faith in the Lord. Job calls God as:

  • “The Almighty”, the God before whom Job preferred to argue his case

  • One who is “wise and all powerful”, impossible to oppose

  • The sovereign Creator over the earth

  • The source of life

  • “The Mighty One”

  • “The Holy One”

  • The only righteous One and source of justice, “Judge”

  •  The only one who has the right to condemn a man for sin

  • “Witness” and “Advocate”

  • “Living Redeemer”

  • Hope of resurrection and eternal life

  • One who was worthy of unrelenting commitment to righteousness, even when God seemed unfair

In Job 19;25-27, Job refers to God as Redeemer (“one who defends or avenges the cause of another”). Jesus is our Redeemer , Hallelujah! God sent his only Son to redeem us all from destruction, sin, guilt, shame, condemnation. Jesus paid our debt!

How beautiful, let’s sit and meditate on that thought!

Let’s sing this famous hymn- There is a Redeemer ❤

There Is A Redeemer Hymn

There is a redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son,
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy One,
Jesus my redeemer,
Name above all names,
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Oh, for sinners slain.

Thank you oh my father,
For giving us Your Son,
And leaving Your Spirit,
‘Til the work on Earth is done.
When I stand in Glory,
I will see His face,
And there I’ll serve my King forever,
In that Holy Place.

Thank you oh my father,
For giving us Your Son,
And leaving Your Spirit,
‘Til the work on Earth is done.
There is a redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son

Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy One,
Thank you oh my father,
For giving us Your Son,
And leaving Your Spirit,
‘Til the work on Earth is done.
And leaving Your Spirit,
‘Till the work on Earth is done.

BLOGGING THRU THE BIBLE: Speak the Words of Comfort {Job 16&17}

Blogging thru Bible New

As in the past weeks, we have been reading how Job was being scrutinized by his friends. We all want friends that are able to help us in times of troubles instead of analysing our faults. Perhaps some time, the way is just to sit with them in sorrow, with our presence, our silence and our tears. Just like what Job’s friends did the first seven days.

Eliphaz reasons sin causes suffering and Job must have somehow sinned. Job felt condemned rather comforted. He needed empathy.

Bildad even on to say further that Job wouldn’t admit his sins, hence that’s why he is suffering. Bildad instead speaking to God for Job, he did the opposite. In all cases of suffering, prayers are more helpful than prescriptions.

And we see Zophar being impatient with Job. He insulted and accused him. Another person suffering is where God is at work. We should always remember James’s teaching:

“Be quick to hear, slow to anger and slow to speak” (James 1:19)

Finally, Job decided that his friends were helping him and took his case straight to God. He concluded that his friends are:

“What a bunch of miserable comforters!” (Job 16:2, MSG)

In compassion, we don’t like to see people suffering. And so our instincts should be aiming to reduce their suffering. We should never make any assumption against their situation.  We should enter by looking at God to help with this mystery. Join hands in prayers.

Christ alone is our hope and glory.

  1. We are to offer a blanket to those who are cold, food to those who are hungry and a cup of cool water to those who are thirsty. To tend to the sick. To visit prisoners. And to do this we need to have compassion heart.
  2. We really don’t understand the full nature of our friend’s problems.
  3. Our friends may not want our advice.
  4. People do not suffer less when they are committed to following God, but more. When these people go through suffering, their lives are often transformed, deepened, marked with beauty and holiness, in a remarkable ways.

Be blessed,
